OUR STORY

About Casting Technologies

We ventured into Taiwan and China in 1990, just as things were opening up. There we witnessed the amazing evolution of Chinese manufacturing. Along the way we encountered all of the problems inherent in offshore sourcing. And we mean all of them.

Eventually we began to specialize in stainless steel and other metal parts. North American companies needed to lower their input costs and they looked for lower cost sources of cast, machined and fabricated metal components. We understood the pitfalls. So we set out to do better.

Here’s how:

WE MANAGE YOUR HEADACHES

Is there anything worse than making a decision and then waiting weeks or months to find out that it was the wrong one? When you decide to place an offshore order, here are a few of the questions that may go through your head:

  • Are the finished parts going to look like the samples?
  • Will they really be ready on time?
  • Did they properly check all of them prior to shipping?
  • Will they package them safely?
  • How will they get here and how do I know we are paying a fair price for transit?
  • Who is going to manage the shipping details, customs clearance, etc.?
  • What if the parts arrive and do not work?
  • How many do I need to order?

We actually enjoy dealing with these things. It is what drives us to do better.

HUGE VOLUMES – NOT NECESSARILY

If you are an automotive company with hundreds of thousands of parts, please do not call us. You don’t need us. You need a full time team of engineers and logistics people to manage the process.

But if you have 1 or 10 parts with small to medium volumes, then Casting Technologies is right for you. There is no cost to request a quote, so what do you have to lose? Let’s say you have a $20 bracket that you use 500 in a year. If we can get you the same thing for $14, that saves 30%. You may think this is not enough volume to go offshore, but we know how to make this work. Let us show you how.

FLEXIBILITY - INVENTORY MANAGEMENT

More and more we hear that the problem with offshore sourcing is that we tie up capital in inventories. What if we could take the 500 pieces of the bracket that just saved you 30% and deliver 50 or 100 pieces monthly?

A big part of what we do better is not just setting up the factory to make the part. It is how to get them from point A to you, in the most efficient, cost effective way. We use warehouses in all North American time zones and are happy to set up more.

We will show you how offshore sourcing can be as simple as ordering from a supplier down the street

FREIGHT COSTS – CAN BE EXTREMELY REASONABLE

We all know that sourcing offshore does not always offer the savings it once did. In many cases the factory cost is going up. But even more significant can be the increasing logistics cost of moving the parts. If you are not paying attention, these can destroy the whole point of offshore sourcing. We do pay attention.

Let’s look at those 500 brackets that saved you 30%. Freight costs could eat up 10 or 20% of your savings. What if we added your order to a regular shipment we already have coming over? Problem solved. It could mean minimal or no freight costs at all.

It sounds simple, and it is, but only because we have been doing this for so long.
